review 1: I enjoyed this book but it didn't blow me away. I liked the concept, two teens dealing with different issues meet and form a relationship at a reform school. This book is a dual-perspective novel and the element was done well, although I sometimes had time switching back and forth between characters. The characters both Had very different issues and I enjoyed seeing them be stubborn and despite that stubbornness begin to heal from issues holding them back, we really got to see each character develop individually. The relationship that forms between the two main characters wasn't really emphasized until the end if the book and I wish it would have more developed earlier in the book. I have to say the supporting characters totally make this book worth the read. They are each... more unique and wonderful and unlike most supporting characters I books these characters aren't stagnant they are very much rounded characters who we get to see grow and change throughout the book. Although I didn't really attach myself to either any characters throughout the story I felt more drawn to the supporting characters than I did the main characters. The action throughout this book was well sustained and held my attention for the whole time. This book was short and fast to get through. There are two things that I didn't really enjoy about this book. I felt there was an oversload of inappropriate references and content in this book for my liking and would have liked it to be toned down. I also thought the absolute ending was somewhat abrupt. Overall I think this is an enjoyable, mediocre read. 3/5 stars.
review 2: When Emmy lands in Heartland Academy for cyber bulling a boy on Facebook she meets Justin, a boy who was having a lot of fun with a girl he had met at the amusement park. They make friends with a group of other teens like them who are just as bad as them. When they steal a pig from the state fair they have to hid it in their dorms until family weekend when all their friends get to leave and Emmy and Justin have to stay. They leave Heartland to take the pig home. But ends up in a cop chase and them into more trouble. If you like fast pace comedies then you'll like A Really Awesome Mess. less
