review 1: I like reading cookbooks especially ones that have family stories and family pictures that go along with the recipes and give you a sense of time, history, place, and family traditions. This book does that and in that respect it is charming. It is also a very basic cookbook...very basic. There are recipes for vegetables cooked in butter and seasoned with salt and pepper. That basic. This book would be great for a beginner cook...or a Trisha Yearwood fan. So while there was only about one recipe in the book that I am wanting to try...the Butterscotch Pie...I did enjoy reading about Trisha's family and their traditions. My Rating: Okay...too basic and a little bland for my cooking tastes.
review 2: I really enjoyed this cookbook. The recipes are of the kind I gre
... morew up with, the kind my mom, grandmoms, aunts and great-aunts cooked. Along with the great southern recipes are little tidbits about country music sensation Trisha Yearwood and her husband Garth Brooks and Trisha's family back in Georgia. I liked this one enough, I may have to buy my own copy, as this one belongs to the library! If you like real Southern dishes, this will be right up your alley. less
