review 1: My 10 year old son read this and really enjoyed it. He wanted me to read it, so I did. I was expecting something like Fablehaven, but this feels much younger. So young that I don't feel fair in rating it from a wizened old 38 year old's perspective. I think 2nd graders would enjoy this story read aloud to them. The story is a bit silly and contrived and not as smart or as fun as Fablehaven and the like. But your little ones, middle schoolers, and even some preteens will like this. I do appreciate that for once, a parent is involved in the mystery and magic, but I think I'll leave the sequels to my kids to enjoy on their own.
review 2: This book was very well written. I gave it four stars which rarely happens. I have only given two books five stars. Those
... more books were where the red fern grows and the red pyramid. I loved this book. The plot is very thrilling and can easily entertain anyone. I would recommend this book to people who like to think about how stuff happens. Janitors has a really spectacular ending and is worth reading all the way. Tyler Whitesides has really hooked me in on this book. Well done! I loathe reading and if a book is not entertaining in the first few pages I kick it to the curb. However Janitors had me hooked by the first paragraph! less
