review 1: I loved this book until the sexually explicit scene. Auda was such a strong female protagonist...despite all of the things working against her. But, I was disturbed that the author felt the need to pander to a lower element by including such graphic details, and I felt it was actually very out of character for innocent and idealistic Auda later to attempt to perform a sexual favor to attain what she needed. This could have been handled better, and that would have made the book truly outstanding.
review 2: I enjoyed this light fiction romance set in South France during the Middle Ages. I found the historical setting of the Inquisition intriguing. As I was reading, I found myself drawing parallel lines to modern day. The heroine of the book is striving for pos... moreitive change and the antagonists are only search for the negative. The details of making paper, the use of paper, and the impact on society because of paper is intertwined with the heroine as she tries to find her purpose in life. less
