The Pebble Creek Amish
review 1: I was glad this story included a hefty dose of the Miller family - Gabe, Miriam, Grace and baby Rachel are so easy to love - because I felt uncomfortable with the immaturity I saw in the main characters, Aaron and Lydia. Both are wrapped up in themselves, and resentful of anyone who gets in their way. Aaron doesn't want to be in Pebble Creek (where he is helping a recently widowed aunt), and Lydia sees his arrival as interfering with her job and her emotions. They seem to spend much of their time arguing - and yet, it is obvious they will fall for each other. Slowly their relationship builds, through the challenge of doing mundane chores and facing danger together.. As in each of Chapman's books, these young people begin to examine themselves honestly and come to a... moreppreciate the life God has given them. In turn, I began to appreciate them more as individuals, too - and I look forward to seeing more of them in the next book in this delightful series.
review 2: This is the second book in a series of lovely books. I really enjoyed reading more about Gabe, Miriam, and Grace. This book has a new romance with Aaron and Lydia. They deal with parents who are ill. Teenagers who have taken wrong roads. A new teacher is in this book, since Miriam married and had a baby. The new teacher is rather stiff, and Miriam finds ways to help her. The Amish community comes together to help those in need. less
