review 1: I received a copy of My Wolfs Bane from NetGalley; in return for an honest review.Honest I shall be! Wow what an awesome book, I loved this story, I have to say I was so keen to read this I could not put it down and read it as quickly as I could. This installment is the first in a series or sequel? It's a Supernatural Romance, I like both so it suited me down to the ground. The story follows Autumn Rossi, a regular every day teenager whose world is suddenly turned upside down by strange new abilities and a new hottie in School Zack De Luca. This is a bit of a Twilight meets Romeo and Juliet book, Autumn and Zack are from different ‘worlds’ they are forbidden to be together. I really do not want to give too much away; but I found I loved the characters, especially Zack.... more I hated Daniel and Gina as I expect I should and fear we have not seen the last of Daniel. I felt a little sorry for Autumn being on her own so much and could relate to her high school dramas being a high school girl once upon a time! I liked the scene between Autumn and Zack’s Aunt regarding an embarrassing situation. I also liked the chemistry and sexual tension between Autumn and Zack; although I do wish they would just get on and do it! Does it mess with their powers or will it simply make them stronger? This is something I hope to find out in the next book. I liked the back-story of Eli and Hannah and how this could relate to Autumns parents. The story kept me gripped and I am eagerly awaiting the next installment. I would recommend My Wolfs Bane to lovers of werewolf stories and Urban Fantasy novels. I would say young adults up as it is a bit sexy and has room to expand on this. I would compare it to the Dirty Blood series by Heather Hildenbrand. Well worth a read, I cannot wait for the next installment and shall be looking for Veronica Blade’s other stories.
review 2: I guess this is one of those ok reads- but it didn't lift me up high enough to touch and grab the stars- in fact it made me bump my head on the moon and come crashing back to earth. My hopes were high that this would be a story with werewolves only, and these were dashed when the Shapeshifter element entered the scene. The 'romance' actually frustrated me- The whole 'I love him, but we can't be together thing,' just got on my nerves. Also, I found the hero extremely insensitive; and felt like punching him senseless each time he came to reject Autumn. However, the story did give me the incentive to go for its sequel. less
