review 1: I had my doubts about this book, but it was available on Overdrive and had reasonable reviews on Goodreads.I thought this book was a little too anachronistic. The whole "The Bachelor" style contest was entertaining but wildly unrealistic. Also I'm pretty sure the phrase "consenting adults" would not have been used at the time.But overall it was entertaining. And I actually worried about the characters, so points to the author.
review 2: The best thing I liked about this book was the heroine. She was very independent but still caring. I did not like the premise of the book; I doubt very seriously that anything like "The Bachelor" was done in Victorian England. I like my historical romances with some truth to them. I also did not like the repeated adjectives t... moreo describe everything - "her lush mouth" and his "hot body" and her "goddess body" were repeated at least 4-5 times each. While the story was entertaining, I don't think I'll be reading another of Dreiling's books. less
