review 1: Reviewed by Molly, Book provided by Forever Yours, Hachette, and Review originally posted at Romancing the Book. When I read a Regency romance, I want them to be just like this one; filled with rich historical details that pull you in, characters that vibrantly come to life, dashes of humor woven in, and passion to steal your breath. Vicky Dreiling is a masterful regency author. She’s amazingly talented and I love reading her work. From start to finish, she hooks me and takes me on a tilt-a-whirl romantic adventure.Andrew Carrington, Earl of Bellingham and known as Bell, is a character who is completely charming. I really loved following his journey of finding a new mistress…without losing his heart, that is. I loved learning about his past and why he’s committed hims... moreelf to a life of bachelorhood. I will be honest, though. In the very beginning, I didn’t think I would like him, what with the way he handled his mistresses. But, as the story progressed, I learned the depth of Bell and the reason behind it. And, when he meet Lady Davenport for the first time….well, let’s just say that I absolutely enjoyed the popping fireworks that opened his once cold and closed up heart!Lady Davenport is a fabulous woman. She’s a widow, trying to nurture and love her stepson, the only child she has. Being a mom myself, I could feel the struggles she endured, the constant worrying about her child, trying to do right by him. She’s about to make the decision to flee back to Hampshire where their home is….until she attends a ball and lays eyes on the dashing, sexy-eyed rake, the Earl of Bellingham. Her season in London just got a whole lot more sinful! Perfect for guiding her stepson into a decent man hood….but not so perfect for quickly falling heart! This amazing book is short, and oh so captivating! Written as an introduction, a prelude, to The Sinful Scoundrels, Colin Brockhurst and Harry Norcliffe’s stories, Ms. Dreiling absolutely blew me away with not only her skilled writing, but her depth of plot & witty characters. Sinfully passionate and moments of humor make up this fabulous new novella. It’s a wonderful series introduction and I can’t wait until the release of the first full length novel in this series in 2013, so I can see more of Colin, Harry and the delightfully sinful passion that Ms. Dreiling infuses them with. Fantastically done, Ms. Dreiling.
review 2: I waited to read this prologue novella until I had Bell's story in hand. I would have had to read it again anyway just to reacquaint myself. I liked getting the background on Bell who caught my attention in "How to Seduce a Scoundrel" and "How to Ravish a Rake". I don't think a separate ebook was necessary, a prologue usually starts a book. But I can see that it would encourage interest in the new series. And now on to "What a Wicked Earl Wants". less
