review 1: It's Thanksgiving, but that doesn't stop murder from coming to town. I like the characters in the book and the mystery is complicated enough to keep my interest. I do have two problems though. One is the shifting point of view at the beginning of the book makes it more difficult to get into the story than it should. The second is that the murders and other crimes are a bit too conveniently connected. Still, I like Doc, Lew, and Ray, so it's worth reading.
review 2: I kind of liked it because it's set in Wisconsin and I was familiar with the places, type of people, etc. But I found mistakes in time sequences that kind of bothered me and probably should have been caught and corrected during editing - like when they asked the girls what they had been doing th... moree night before when their foster mother was shot. They said they had been doing their school work to get ready for the beginning of the week & had watched Masterpiece Theater. Well, the day she was shot was Thanksgiving - in Wisconsin there's never school the Friday after Thanksgiving and Masterpiece Theater is always on Sunday night.And people from Wisconsin don't really say 'doncha know'. less
