review 1: Set in a small town in northern Wisconsin, this is the latest book in the Loon Lake mystery series. Retired dentist and avid fisherman "Doc" Osborne again provides forensic assistance to Police Chief Lewellyn Ferris after a grisly discovery during a flood. Without burdening the continuing reader, there is adequate background to the recurring characters, which also include fishing guide and Doc's friend Ray Pradt. Nicely plotted, with a satisfying conclusion after the killer is revealed, this book will appeal to fans of the traditional mystery.
review 2: Good read. I do enjoy the character. Although this one seemed shorter than previous one. The police were a bit slow in doing background checks and how could she have been hired on a senate level as, I think... more it was, campaign manager with that much in her background. I expected it to be an identity theft at least. I had said four stars but this was a very weak point. Sometimes I'm think the author forgets about how easy it seems to be to check backgrounds never in small towns. less
