review 1: The mysteries that Sarah Brandt and her police detective friend are ones with great story lines. Victoria Thompson does a great job bringing to life that era and pointing out some of the wrongs done against the poor, especially women. In this story, a wealthy businessman is murdered and there seem to be plenty of potential suspects. Sarah's father, also a wealthy business man is an officer of the famous Knickerbocker Club. This is where the murdered man's body was discovered but also the fact that he was not murdered on the club's premises. He asks that Frank Malloy, Sarah's friend, investigate the case. What happens makes for a great story.
review 2: Felix Decker summons Detective Sergeant Frank Malloy to investigate the murder of a friend at the exclusive Knic
... morekerbocker club. It isn't long until Decker's daughter, Sarah Brandt, becomes involved in the investigation with Malloy. With Sarah's help, Malloy begins to unravel horrible secrets within the Devries family for which any one could be the reason to murder Chilton Devries. I enjoy these mysteries but they are a bit predictable. That doesn't stop me from reading them!
