review 1: "To Read or Not To Read" is a short horror story. Now here's the thing, I'm not usually attracted to short stories, and the same can be said for horror. So why the devil did I enjoy this? Well for starters the characters were good, they were given personality traits that were instantly familiar. The storyline was intriguing, with just the right amount of creepiness. An old bookshop was the setting, but of course this being a horror story, it was no ordinary bookshop. I mean, I've never walked into Waterstones ( other bookshops are available ) and experienced anything like this! The horror part when it came, WAS shocking, a nice little twist, but not the sort of shocking that had me turning on all the lights and checking under the bed! Which for this wimp was a bonus. To Re... moread or Not To Read? Definately read.
review 2: Well, my first thought when I finished reading it was "Duh. How could you (being myself) not realize what book she had picked up?" Needless to say, I still had a good idea of what the ending would be like, even when I missed that key detail (which is infuriating since I have read that book...many times). Still, this was a very good read, and one of my favorite short stories of all time. I think it was a bit creepy, but not in the overwhelming way some authors try to be, which just leaves the reader uncomfortable. I really couldn't stop reading this one to be honest. less
