review 1: In regards to the introduction - I just don't get how someone who likes fairy tales enough to do retellings, would criticize fairy tale logic and expect them to conform to modern story-telling standards.And though her main criticism is that the original tales are illogical and silly, her stories are more than a little silly themselves. There's this old aphorism about glass houses and stones. I wonder if Velde has ever heard it? (This actually isn't terrible, I just couldn't resist poking fun a bit!)
review 2: I enjoyed Alex Finn's books so I thought I'd give this book a try. I'm glad I did. Eight different stories of Little Red Riding hood each one about ten pages long. Two stories for Red, Two for Granny, Two for the Woodcutter and one for the wolf and one f... moreor... well you'll just have to read it and find out. My favorite one is Granny and the Wolf where a little old granny finds a trapped wolf and takes the wolf home with her. If you like fairy tales with a bit of a twist then you'd probably enjoy this book. less
