review 1: Again with the time jumps! HATE THEM. This book is such a trip. Which was intended I'm sure but it sort of feels like a bottle episode. The first part doesn't but then when they get into the Spiritus Mundi it's like one movie vignette riff after another. It was interesting. I got all the things Chambers was trying to reference. I loved the whole Bonnie and Clyde motif and also the big bad wolf thing. These characters really go through some crazy s***. Lots of violence in this one. Overall what is the point? That darkness and light are the same? That the dual nature of humanity will always be in conflict? That love is a selfish, all-consuming, powerful force that no one can fight? That all's fair in love and war? I don't know, something like that. Not sure h... moreow I feel about the ending, but I guess it was okay. Sort of sad that this crazy ride is over but it was definitely time.
review 2: It seems that recently all of my favorite book series are coming to an end. I am sad to see some of my favorite books and characters be done with. I was very happy that this last book was all from Jason's point of view. It picked up right where the last book left off, and I was happy that Jason and Azazel got back together, I mean I wanted them to be together from the very beginning but of course they had difficulty because they were constantly being hunted down and trying to battle their own darkness. I enjoyed the way that Chambers ended the book with the perspective of the Light and the Dark, very interesting. I am also glad that it ended with J & A staying together. Overall I am very pleased with the ending. less
