review 1: I had such high hopes for this book -- my colleagues and I have often discussed what would happen in particular situations if the 'net was to drop entirely or if we went back to the days of very limited access. And it started out pretty well, and about 1/3 through it just turned into this naval-gazing weirdness and just got worse. Then I realized it that the author wrote for McSweeneys. Oh. OF COURSE
review 2: Alright, how do I explain this book? I read the synopsis and thought it might be worth a laugh or two. And in a way it was. The first half of the book was funny, interesting, and had a good plot. I would give it a solid 4 stars. The last half though was not just a let down, it made no sense. While the Gladstone of the first part of the Internet Apocalypse
... more was the unlikely hero type dressed it a fedora, the Gladstone for the rest of the book was sad, middle-aged pervert with some depressing mental issues. I say this with the deepest regret. I did like the start of the book, but the rest was just awful. It's as if they forgot to edit it, honestly I don't know how it was published the way it is. Unless you want a depressing, porny novel covering up a potential good story idea don't read this book. less
