review 1: This book wasn't anything like what I expected. Having been born in San Francisco and lived there again for a couple of years in my 20s, I was excited when I first was aware of this book and I ordered it right away. I'll give you it's cute. And different. And has some interesting facts in it. The drawings are OK. It gives one food for thought. But, I was disappointed. I wasn't "amazed" like I feel when I'm in SF and when I think about the times when I lived there. Maybe I'll read it again and see if I missed something.
review 2: I bought this book because it looked fun, and what I'd seen of MacNaughton's work before I'd always liked. It seemed like the kind of book a person who lives in San Francisco and loves it (me) should have.I wasn't quite prepare... mored for how moving I found it, especially the last page. It does feel like sometimes those of us who live in the Outer Sunset share a secret, or at least understand something other people don't. less
