review 1: Who Was Walt Disney? by Whitney Stewart and illustrated by Nancy Harrison is a biography about the famous Walt Disney. The book relates to Walt Disney from birth to his death in 1966 and everything in between. Who Was Walt Disney? not only tells the story of his creations of Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, and Minnie, but also tells you of how Walt developed this talent. This biography had great information about Walt Disney and his cartoons. This book gave information about Walt that would be surprising, and that you would not expect. For example, Walt and a friend, found and altered German soldier helmets and sold them as authentic real war souvenirs. The only drawback to this book for myself was that there were no real pictures of the events. I would have liked to see... more actual pictures of Walt, rather then the illustrations. The plus side to the illustrations were that they were cartoon-like so it added emphasis to the cartoons that Walt had drawn of Mickey and the gang.
review 2: Who Was Walt Disney was an extremely informational book about Walt's life. Walt's family was poor, and Walt had a vivid imagination. Walt loved to entertain people and this is how Walt got his imagination. Walt went to Hollywood planning to become an actor, for the entertainment and the money. Sadly, this never occurred for Walt. There was one good thing about this, Walt and his brother Roy realized there was no animation business that were headquartered in California. Walt and Roy set this up, and the rest is straightforward. Eventually, Walt and Roy became the most successful team of brothers in Hollywood. These brothers later created movies that were produced by "Disney" and two "DisneyWorld" locations, in California and Florida. From failure to success, giving up is never the option. "Who Was Walt Disney?" demonstrates this meaningful lesson, and much more. Zach F. less
