Just One Wish by Janette Rallison

Seventeen-year-old Annika Truman knows about the power of positive thinking. With a little brother who has cancer, it’s all she ever hears about. And in order to help Jeremy, she will go to the ends of the earth (or at least as far as Hollywood) to help him believe he can survive his upcoming surgery.

But Annika’s plan to convince Jeremy that a magic genie will grant him any wish throws her a curveball when he unexpectedly wishes that his television idol would visit him. Annika suddenly finds herself in the desperate predicament of getting access to a hunky star actor and convincing him to come home with her. Piece of cake, right?

Janette Rallison’s proven talent for laugh-out-loud humor, teen romance, and deep-hearted storytelling shines in a novel that will have readers laughing and crying at the same time.

Review

I always enjoy books with normal people falling in love with celebrities. It didn’t take me long to finish Just One Wish by Janette Rallison. I started the book at night and then finished it the next afternoon.

The book made me tear up a little and I appreciate emotional books.

Annika, the main character, has a younger brother, Jeremy, who has cancer. She believes in positive thinking, so she makes him believe there was a genie who gave her 3 wishes and she has two left that she saved for him.

She thinks he will wish for the Robbin Hood toy he has been wanting from his favorite TV show, but instead wishes for the real person. Determined, Annika travels 4 hours from Nevada to California to try to talk to Steve Raleigh, the actor who plays Robbin Hood.

Soon after, she finds herself falling in love with him. After she makes a bet with Steve, she makes a trip back to Nevada, but things don’t work out the way Annika thought they would. I really liked this book and give it a ⅘ rating instead of a 5/5 because I wanted a little more to the story especially more to Steve and Annika.
