Cork O'Connor
review 1: It seems the town of Aurora, and Cork O'Connor's family, hold a lot of secrets. This time Cork had to deal with some events from 40 years ago, when he was just 13, as well as a modern-day mystery that was tied to them. Of course we wouldn't get Cork's entire life story in the first book (that would be a book in and of itself) but still, it felt a bit odd that the family connection (one victim was a cousin) to these events wouldn't have been referenced earlier in the series. Despite that one off-note, this was a good mystery with the vivid descriptions and flowing prose one expects from Krueger.
review 2: I probably should rate these books 4s, but somehow I feel like 4 should be reserved for books that are somehow more Literary or something. These books are
... morejust plain good reads. When I start them I can hardly put them down until I've finished. The characters are very real, dealing with real problems and I feel like I am getting to know them as I continue with the series. I am always eager to read the next one, but I try to space them out a bit so the pleasure goes on longer. less
