Cork O'Connor
review 1: This Cork O'Connor mystery was very well written and a story with a lot of heart. The setting of the story is in northern Minnesota bordering Canada. I loved the description of the scenic lake and islands as I had not been familiar at all with this area. The story revolves around a murdered girl and a newborn baby left behind on an island. The story is intense and heartbreaking, but at the same time leaves the reader with a sense of hope for humanity.
review 2: WKK takes us on a wild adventure in the Lake of the Woods area of Minnesota. It begins as Cork O'Connor's family meets for a vacation there in 1999. 1999, the year of the derecho in Northern Minnesota, a scary backdrop. Each of the family members is paired off and on an adventure when the derecho wi
... moreth it's hurricane force straight-line winds hit the area. In the aftermath two family members finds a cabin with the body of a young woman and hidden in the cabin a very young baby boy. From this point the mysterious adventure begins. We are taken on an adventure to determine who the woman and baby are and why and who murdered such a young woman. There are many twists in the story and that makes for a fun read despite the angst the reader feels. One of the things I especially love in Cork O'Connor mysteries is learning about the Native American (Ojibway) philosophies - in this story it's from the old sage Henry Meloux. Makes me wish I knew him!If you like mysteries you'll love WKK's stories and writing but start with the first book and read in sequence to "feel" the whole story of Corcoran O'Connor and his family. less
