review 1: 3.5 hearts Quite the daring book in my opinion, Bennie’s Wish is a romance different from the norm. The most unexpected thing about it was the very protagonist, or should I say his description. Ally is definitely not the usual stud; as a matter of fact he’s not so tall, chubby and bald. His only pros are his money, yes Ally is quite wealthy, and, I’ll quote Bennie here, his amazing green eyes and his two cute little dimples. It’s not to wonder Bennie fell for Ally, the latter is quite the cute type of man and I have to admit I read the book much more enthusiastically because of him. Now if it wasn’t for his naivety and his insecurity… Bennie is the type of rich guy that gets used and abused by his close environment. He knows it but he lacks strength to stand up... more for himself and put things straight. This is how Bennie comes into the scene.Bennie is a model. Not just any model, he’s a damn God. Every time I bring his image in my head I shudder. He’s also the used and abused guy, but unlike Ally he took care of the leeches in his life. That did left him drained emotionally and not trusting his own shadow, but no one would treat him like he was a plant, only there as a decoration or a stepping stone for someone to climb into the show biz. When he sees Ally for the first time he gets smitten by those green eyes and the dimples (remember them) and I can’t blame him. Ms. Xanakas did a good job introducing Ally and I loved, loved, loved their meeting scene. Hilarious in so many ways and unexpected in others.This story is a short one indeed and although I dislike them in general, this one was very well written. No messing with a tremendous storyline, the plot was well constructed and interesting, the characters all had their charms and appeals, even Robbie, Ally’s leech for a friend, was a solid character. The blurb really gives the story no credit at all. As always something annoyed me and this time was the fact that there was no sex involved, at all. Oh yes Ally fantasizes and jacks off with Bennies image, but we missed any physical connection between Ally and Bennie. I mean, dear author, why? Why? All my expectations and anticipation for their union… Ok, ok I’ll stop before this gets personal. Romance lovers, fans of contemporary reads and all you who like to read something where unique and different are being celebrated this is definitely the book for you. Enjoy!
review 2: 3.5 starsAdorable story and yes we get a bold chubby MC who is gorgeous deep down, loved Ally! Bennie the hunky model sees those dimples and is hooked with good reason, great chemistry and dialogue very enjoyable. A bit of conflict with Ally's atrocious money hungry friends they get whats coming to them though finally. My one complaint its too short I was not expecting it to end so soon......where was that beautiful romantic love scene on the beach that I was expecting "sniffs". Sequel desperately needed! less
