review 1: Ms. Kilanko has written a riveting debut novel. Her writing was so vivid I felt as though I was in Nigeria. As I read Morayo and Morenike's similar yet different story lines I found my heart breaking as I marveled at their strength and rejoiced over their triumph. One statement Ms. Kilanko penned states, "But no one told us that sometimes evil is found closer to home, and that those who want to harm us can have the most soothing and familiar of voices." How true a statement for Morayo and Morenike. Fellow readers you won't be disappointed. You'll laugh, cry, and cheer as you go on this literary journey with the Daughters Who Walk This Path. I will definitely read Ms. Kilanko's future novels.
review 2: I received this book from GoodReads FirstReads GiveAways.
... more This is a story about growing up female in Nigeria. We learn about how two women from one family survive being raped as young teens, and how they suffer the consequences and continue living their lives. A well told story, touching on family dynamics, albinos, tribal dynamics, local politics, and education. I recommend this book for an enjoyable, although tough at times, story about life in Nigeria. less
