review 1: 4/5 stars!!!!From the moment I saw the cover and I read the title of this book, I knew!!! I just knew this was going to be one heck of a joyful ride!!! And I also knew I was going to have a fun time reading this book :) OMG where do I even begin?? This book..... This book... Wow, I mean who wouldn't read a battle of the sexes book and not go for the genre?Of course, I was going for the girls because, you know I'm a girl :PAnyway, wow, just woooow. Summary:This book is about Luisa and writing for the Newshound as an extracurricular activity, because the whole school depends on her and the scoop (the mysterious boy) to raise the most money so that the entire school can have a month off of school, and upgrade the school a bit. That's the prize also the principal says that bet... moreween the newshound and the scoop whoever wins the battle gets 3 more days off, so you know how that's going to be... Anyway the only thing that bugged me reading this book was that I just couldn't figure out who the scoop was.... I mean Collins and Rideout made me guess 4 DIFFERENT GUYS FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!!!! and of course My second guess was correct because I thought at first it was Mac then Joey then Tyler -sigh- what a ride though!!!! This book definitely deserved a 5 star rating/review from me :) Congrats!!!! And I hope you get a chance to read this book because I guarantee that to will laugh hysterically, and you will get awesome advice from girls and men themself :) *recommend if you have relationship problems!*
review 2: This book was amazing. I cannot even express how satisfying it was to read. It took me just one day to finish it, because I could not bring myself to put it down. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone in high school, or about grade seven. It is awkward, romantic, wonderful, ridiculously funny, and really relatable. The book basically follows Lu Perez (the main character)throughout a year at school that she is determined to make better than the last. Her and her friends begin to meet guys, and start actually doing things they used to think ``normal teenagers`` do. Lu is asked to write a column in the school newspaper anonymously from the girls point of view in a battle of the sexes to win a longer winter vacation. An unknown boy is also asked to write a column, and soon it turns into a full on battle between the two of them. All the while, Lu is dating and experiencing things she never has before. At the end of this book I found myself wishing I was Lu. Yvonne Collins wrote it so well, I felt as if I was there... and when I realized I wasn't, I felt an incredible longing to be. I found myself reading, and then re-reading many parts in this book endlessly. Definitely an amazing Young-adult read! less
