review 1: I don't think I've read a book by this author that I didn't like, until now. It's not that this is a bad book, it's just so not my cup of tea. If I needed any confirmation that I don't like BDSM, this book certainly provided it. The entire relationship between the main characters, sexual and emotional leaves me completely cold. I am finishing it because I'm caught up in the mystery, as I said, it's not a bad book.
review 2: My first Z.A. Maxfield; will read more. Awesome plot, good primary and secondary characters. Nice chemistry between Finn and Dare. Very, very good overall. I can't give this 5 stars because of two of my personal preferences. (No spoilers are divulged.)(1) I've been reading highly emotional stories lately, so I kept wanting this book to ... moredelve deeper into the hearts and minds of Dare and Finn; into their motivations and feelings. I like surprise twists and this book delivers. But, by the end, I still felt like the reasons behind the twists were glossed over. I knew the reasons, but wanted to know more; I wanted to see the characters exhibit (or fight to keep secret) their prefences and motivations in the other parts of their lives. (2) It just ended, and I wanted more. This was like being rushed out of a restaurant after the entree and not being offered dessert. I read a lot of series/interconnected books so I'm spoiled; but I would have liked a little glimpse into their future HEA. less
