review 2: The 'Qur'an and modern science, Compatible or Incompatible?' by Zakir Naik is a wonderful book. It states that the Qur'an
... more (the holy book for muslims) is a book of signs. Muslims consider the Qur'an to be of completely divine origin. Meaning, it is from God. It contains guidance for all mankind. Some may scoff at such an idea and sneer that it is untrue and impossible. Yet, this book ' Qur'an and modern science' provides proof. The Qur'an appeared in the desserts of Arabia 1400 years ago. At that time, people did not have the same technological advancements that we do today. Many facts about space were unknown. The Qur'an talks about space in great detail. For example, one verse in the Qur'an says, "Do not the Unbelievers see that the heavens and the earth were joined together (as one Unit of Creation), before we clove them asunder?" This verse is describing the Big Bang, that everything was joined together before the Big explosion happened. People 1400 years ago could not have possibly known this, do we not then wonder where this information came from? The Qur'an also foretells the end of the Sun; that it will extinguish after a certain period of time. "And the Sun runs its course for a period determined for it; that is the decree of (Him) The exalted in Might, The All-Knowing." Again I ask, how could people of long ago have known this? What was the source of this knowledge? There are many other miracles, like how the Qur'an talks about the expanding universe, the water cycle, oceanology, biology, medicine, physiology, and embryology. A lot of the things mentioned in the Qur'an are just being discovered recently, so it is a huge miracle for a book to have been revealed 1400 years ago and contain this information."Behold! In the creation of the heavens and the earth, and the alternation of Night and Day – there are indeed signs for me of understanding."The Qur'an is not a book of science, but a book of miracles and signs. It guides muslims in their everyday life, and shows us the difference between right and wrong. Some people might require one sign to believe. Others ten signs, while some may require hundred signs to be convinced about the Divine origin of the Qur'an. Some would be unwilling to accept the Truth even after being shown a thousand signs. "Deaf, dumb, and blind, they will not return (to the path)"I thank Allah for guiding me to the right path; who can give better guidance than the Creator Himself? less
