Alix London
review 1: ALix London, an art restorer, s trying to establish a career in Seattle. Her childhood of wealth ad prestige came tumbling down when her father, curator at a noted art museum is found guilty of art forgery and goes to prison. She is left to pick up the pieces and find a life for herself. At 29 she is now employed by a wealthy client who wants her to verify the authenticity of a painting. This takes her to Santa Fe, New Mexico, to the center of the arts community and she lands in the middle of a murder investigation. In fact, she herself becomes the target of the same killer. Add to this mix, a sexy FBI agent working on art fraud and it makes for a quick and exciting read.
review 2: This was a punt, because it was on offer, and it sounded interesting - a c
... morerime thriller set in the art world. Sadly, it was a pot-boiler. I lost count of how many times I rolled my eyes at the clichés, never mind the inconsistencies in the plot. Add to this my personal irritation as an archivist at the authors' sniping at our professional standards, and you can see why I've only given it two stars. I won't be reading any more in the series. It wasn't even mildly diverting. less
