review 1: Completed, finished, exhausted... all 552 pages!!! Certainly I would not want to spoil the story for those yet to read, however I will say to those that still look for the lies and deception that the death of Christ is a lie... Please read the book again, as all your questions will be answered. This is most certainly a book you can read again. Yet why did not I award the book 5 stars, you can't get five, after all no one is perfect. Leo Tillman becomes a mercenary after his wife and three children go missing from the family home and vanish without a trace. The story evolves and we learn one of life's greatest mysteries unfold's, how far would you go to find your loved one(s). Lost love, the beginning's of one of the greatest stories ever told. No spoiler alerts here, other... more than take your time to ingest and enjoy the structure, texture and taste of each page as the story unfolds. Remember not to swallow too hard at the ending, rather relax and wonder what would you do if only you knew the truth.
review 2: An ex-cop joins forces with a mercenary to trace the killer(s) of a series of people. The mercenary believe they are the same people who kidnapped his wife and three children 13 years ago. The trail leads them to a new slant on a lost gospel called The Rotgut, translated by one of the murder victims, and purporting to be the truth behind the death of Jesus. Tied in to an air crash in Arizona and an abandoned suburb of Mexico City they are followed by strange pale-skinned assassins who seem to be on a mission to kill them. This is a fast page-turning chase that kept me reading for long sessions. However, I have to drop a star because I seem to have missed the whole point of what the gospel actually said! I understood that anyone who learns the secret had to be killed, but I'm quite certain it wasn't mentioned and for me that was a big let-down to what was a good story. less
