review 1: Don't read this book until you've read the predecessors in the series, otherwise you will not appreciate the plot, characters or setting.Very Valentine is the first novel in the series, followed by Brava, Valentine. All three books paint a colorful picture of an even more colorful family in New York and Italy. And family proves to be the glue that holds everything together when all else fails.
review 2: I read this in a flash. I loved the characters, it felt like home. I was invested in them so when a sudden incident happens in the book I was so sad because it was like a real person to me. I'm not sure that I like the ending but understand it. This series really spoke to me because I am so ingrained in the culture that Trigiani describes so well from both a... morengles, the Italian-American side as well as the Italian. I am so sad there isn't another book in this series. I could read them forever. less
