review 1: I'm not even done with this wonderful book yet, but I can already count it as one of my all time favorites! Beautifully written, lovingly told this story captivates and carries you away to a scenic mountain in Italy, following the tender story of Ciro and Enza. I love the values of faith and family in this book without the sermon. If you love opera, sewing and family you will sink into this delious story and you will never want it to end! Bravo!
review 2: This story paralleled my grandparents' story in so many ways.....they, too, grew up one village apart in the Italian Alps, but in the Veneto region. My grandmother actually came over on the Rochambeau. My grandparents met in Clifton, NJ, married and travelled to Cleveland so that my grandfather could find
... more work. This novel rang so true for me! I had no trouble imagining my own dear grandparents as Ciro & Enza! less
