review 1: Technically I did not finish this book (which was lent to me, not something I would likely pick up otherwise). And here is why:Gave Very Valentine the 150 page test - well 155. There were a LOT of descriptions of EVERYTHING. I don't dislike it exactly but the descriptions are wearing on me. I understand it is a trilogy, so maybe the author is padding it to make sure she got 3 books. Going to give up on it as there is nothing else that really connects and I am totally not going to read 2 more of these. The writing is actually quite adept even if the descriptions are way out of whack and the characterization a bit shallow, so that is why it gets a 2.
review 2: Very Valentine by Adriana TrigianiI’ve been reading all of Adriana Trigiani’s novels over the las
... moret few years - I know I will like a story she tells and I enjoy her descriptions. I listened to this book in audio format. All the American/Italian family stuff is brought to life when listening to the story. I enjoy cooking, food and making things so it was easy for me to like this novel. The writing has vivid descriptions of very good food, making me hungry. The main character has learned to make beautiful Italian inspired shoes by hand following time honoured family traditions. I couldn’t not like this story! I have to route for Valentine to become a success with the family shoe company. less
