review 1: The tangled politics of Turkey during and since the Ottoman Empire is always interesting when a Turkish author attempts to explain the dynamics through fiction. In Patasana, Ahmet Umit tries to show how human nature has not changed since the time of the Hittites and Assyrians - 3000 years ago - as understood from the journal of a court scribe involved with national betrayal. In contemporary eastern Turkey, an international team of archaeologists becomes involved in a series of murders, the details of which lead to speculation about the possible guilt of local Kurdish rebels and Armenians with family vendettas. I found the story line interesting, but the translation of ancient tablets was somewhat tedious. The resolution was a surprise. The translation by Amy Spangler is v... moreery readable.
review 2: Okuduğum en iyi Ahmet Ümit kitabıydı.. Ahmet Ümit in yazımı anlatımı biraz daha basit olduğu için rahatlama amaçlı seçtim bu kitabı :) iyi de oldu.. gerçi bazı kısımlarda ufak sinir olmalarım da oldu.. ".... dedi Esra. ... gitti Esra." böyle cümleleri peş peşe olunca sevmiyorum. Daha güzel ifade edebilirdi. hep arkeologlara özenmişimdir çalışma disiplinleri, buldukları şeyler büyüleyici. Ah Patasana ah! kitap bitince düşündüğüm şey aşk insanı kötü şeyler yapmaya mı sürükler? oldu.. öyle değil tabi ama insanı değiştiriyor. İlişkiler kavgalar kıskançlıklar vardı bunların olması bence kitaba gerçeklik katmış.. less
