review 1: I thought this book overall was great but I did dislike the slow pace it moved in because I felt as thought the whole book was very descriptive but the ending which I felt was very rushed. I hated how they tore down Lances character along with his relationship with Haven. Instead of building up Lance's character and getting to see more depth in his past I felt as though all his morals fell out the window when Sabine came long. Knowing Lance had a girlfriend he flirted along with Sabine, though that was totally a douche and pig move.I felt as though all of the Lance we saw in Illuminate disappeared in this book and was replaced with a douche that suddenly changed in the last few pages of the book.I hated how loved getting attention from two girls and enjoyed basking in it. ... moreI hated how he changes in the last few pages of the book and suddenly returns to loving Haven. What pissed me off the most about Lance was that he blamed his behavior on the all time favorite excuse by boys,INSECURITIES! I disliked his character throughout the book yet rooted for him too. What can I say I got a soft spot for Lance. So apart from his character I really enjoyed the book and setting. I loved how descriptive it was to make me feel as though I was their in New Orleans. As for Lucian although I loved him in the first book I felt as though he was forcing a relationship on Haven knowing she had a boyfriend he made a move on her but i guess all was forgiven since she happily obliged. Lucian showed great courage but really his character development was slow but I think the next book will have more of that. He was seen fairly often in the book but I hated ow he kept their meeting in secrecy from Dante and Lance. These new characters were very interesting but I would have like to see Haven make some friends that were girls for a change and build a great friendship off of that instead of having to go to Dante no matter how much i loved him! I loved how Haven fought alone and showed no sign of weakness even when she needed Lance. I love the maturity level that Haven showed by not lashing out at Sabine and Lance and just ignoring it but I still felt as though she did not fight for lance enough to keep him knowing how much she needed him. As for Sabine she's a total bitch and she needed to back off. I really despised her character from the start with her fake attitude and her snappy and bossy personality.I really reccomend this book if your love paranormal and YA books!Sorry my book review was mainly on Lances character development needs!
review 2: Ahhhh! I tore through this book so fast and now I wish I hadn't because I will hate waiting for the next installment! This second book in the Gilded Wings series picked up the pace for me; I struggled a bit with the first book. Haven and her crew continue their battle against evil in New Orleans, and author Aimee Agresti drops the readers right in there with them. Very exciting and quick read, with twists right up to the finish. Can't wait for book three! less
