review 1: This book was weird. It was good but simultaneously horrible. I think the plot could have been much better; but at the same time I like the weird quirk of everything around her unfolded into something with a lot of thought behind it. Like I said, it's weird. If possible this book would have gotten 2,5 stars instead of only two.The plot unfolded okay, the characters were okay, the world around the protagonist were okay, the language were so so, the themes were classic and without anything new to them that would have made them special for the book and all that sums up my thoughts about the book; as well as the reasons for my decision to give this book only two stars.I might recommend this book, but it wouldn't be my first choice of book to recommend.
review 2: I'm
... more so disappointed! As of late it seems that I just can't find a good book series, I'm hitting walls.... Anyway The cover and the back of this book looked and read so good but like other reviewers have been saying, sadly it really isn't. I got to page 82 before I just stopped and skimmed through pages to see if it would get any better but it really didn't.The overall plot or well idea of this book I think is really good, but as for the storyline it could not hold my interest at all. Kate seems like an alright character though I personally didn't find her all that interesting. Which is one of the whole reasons I couldn't even finish the book, I found myself constantly waiting for things to pick up and for the story to get moving but it never did. Even when I skipped to page 200 something, the story still kept its slow/draggy pace. The other thing that really killed it for me when reading this was the romance, it overall just seemed very flat. Besides the fact that Henry wasn't anything like his Greek god counterpart (*cough* God of the Underworld) his character overall was very I don't really know how to word it plain maybe? I mean for the guy whose counterpart was suppose to be the King of the Underworld you would think that Carter would give him the whole sarcastic bad boy personality (like I was REALLY hoping for) but it was the total opposite! It was like Henry had no personality at all! His character just came off as very dull and melancholy, which had me throwing up my hands in frustration. Practically the same goes for Kate, though her character did have some dry humor puns here and there overall if I had to choose a core personality trait to describe her, it would be stressed. Needless to say I could not finish this book. less
