Flavia de Luce
review 1: Flavia de Luce is back for a fourth adventure. This time, it's nearly Christmas, and Flavia's determined to trap Father Christmas on one of the chimneys of Buckshaw using her own super-sticky formulation of birdlime. She's also fascinated by the arrival of a film crew from London, who have rented parts of Buckshaw for their latest production, directed by Val Lampman and starring Phyllis Wyvern. Flavia soon insinuates herself in the midst of things, making friends with Miss Wyvern, who is prevailed upon by the vicar to do a little performance to help raise money for repairs to the church. Everyone in town turns out for the performance, taking place at Buckshaw. A blizzard ensues, trapping pretty much the entire population at the house. Then someone kills Phyllis Wyvern. Flav... moreia is hot on the trail, as is the beleaguered local inspector. Who'll solve the case first?I adore these books. Flavia gets more and more interesting as she goes along. Her relationship with her sisters and her father grows ever more deeper and complex, as well. I can't wait to see what happens in the next one.
review 2: I did not know that this book was during the week of Christmas when I started it, but the funny thing is that I started it the week of Christmas and finished it on Dec. 29, which is the time frame of the book. So that was fun :) Anyway, I love Flavia and her wit and love of chemistry. I thought that this book didn't have as many twists and turns as some of the others but it was still a great read. I'm also curious in regards to what you learn about some of the other characters and I wonder where the author will go with it. less

I struggle with wanting to read every Flavia de Luce book in a week or wanting to spread them out over weeks or months and gloriously savor each one. I truly love this series and couldn't help myself. I had to read this one the week before Christmas. Perfect mystery for the holidays. Delightful, as expected. I don't know how I found the time, but I gobbled it up and can't wait to read the next one!
