review 1: Another good story, this one for teens, about the Holocaust. This one is a fictional account, but based on, a young boy's actual story. Jack Gruener (Yanek Gruener) was 10 years old when the Germans invaded Poland and made a Jewish ghetto in the city of Krakow. He spent the war in one concentration camp after another and worked at one time in Oskar Schindler's enamelware factory, was at Plaszow with the infamous Amon Goeth, came face-to-face with Josef Mengele, and endured many cattle cars and death marches. It is quite the story and remarkable that he lived through it all. This is a testament to the strength of one young man who lived through the horrific Holocaust.
review 2: Prisoner B-3087 by Alan Gratz a book about the holocaust. If you don't know what
... more the holocaust is I suggest you don't read this book. This book is based on a true story. Anyway, Yanek is the main person in this story. Yanek goes in to the ghetto when he is about 10 years old. He goes through so many thing there that you would think he would want to leave. When, he finally does leave he meets somebody unexpected. Before Yanek is even 16 years old he has seen so much death that he doesn't even care anymore. It was an amazing book and I can't believe this 14 year old want through all of that and stayed sane. Probably will read it again sometime. less
