review 1: I've won this book at a Parka Blogs contest, and it just arrived today. (of course I read it all in one sitting)I'm an illustrator, and when I was a little kid I've always looked up to Jamie Hewlett. I really loved the Gorillaz style, they were funny, different from anything I've ever seen, and full of mini details all over it in a very punk-pop-art kind of way.I've never read Tank Girl, but after reading this book that's all I wanna do!The book is beautiful, full of one page illustrations, sketches, comic strips...Everything you could ask for in a book like this. The storyboards for the movie was one of the best parts! And the little comic strips "The 16's" at the very end really made me laugh.So, for everyone that loves Hewlett's art as much as I do, and Tank Girl, this ... moreis the book for you.
review 2: I'm in love with Gorillaz, so I bought this book hoping it will share same visual style as the band since the cover looks like it. I didn't know -until I read this book- that Tank Girl apparently a title of comic series waaaayyy before Gorillaz exists and it has totally different style from Gorillaz...Anyway, I don't regret to read this book though. Alan's narrative is enjoyable to read, sounds fun, genuine and witty about how they survive(?) with their passion and teamwork in the comic industry. And of course, knowing Tank Girl is enjoyable too. less
