review 1: Out of any of the Century books this one was the best one yet. Still enjoyed Black Dossier the best, but this one was a blast. Love the James Bond references. If you read the 1969 one you could pick up the big spoiler in this one with Harry Potter as the antichrist. The best part about this was the battle with Harry Potter and Mary Poppins. Yes Marry Poppins puts Harry Potter in his place. Not only that, Moore ass quotes to Poppins that are only found in the book (bonus points for me). I also enjoyed Orlando's story in this and the fact when she is a woman, her name is Vita (you'll have to read Virginia Woolf's book Orlando to figure that one out).
review 2: This one wasn't as bad (for me) as the others in this series but it was still saturated in refer... moreences I didn't get and it was really kind of depressing. I read a synopsis of the entire 3 part series and still didn't really understand much of what was going on. This series is EXTREMELY different from the original graphic novel so it's important that you don't go into it thinking that it's going to be a pulpy action adventure novel. This is dark and deals with the stretching of the human soul "forced" to endure immortality.I liked the anti-christ part a lot but the rest of it was kind of boring. The conclusion of the prose story was amazing (as were the previous installments) but as with the graphic novel I would suggest reading all of these books within close proximity to each other. Otherwise you spend half the time referencing the older books (if you have them) or catching up on the plot. less
