review 1: I absolutely loved this one- had everything. A cop story, romance and sentimental Christmas stories. Nick is suspended from the police force pending an investigation and estranged from his family- he is finding life hard. His old partner persuades him to take on a couple of days undercover looking for muggers targetting a local shopping mall. The only problem is - he's undercover as Santa Claus! The Chief Elf is determined to spread Christmas cheer and gets him involved in some other Santa duties which get him in contact with a reporter. He also meets a little boy in hospital who dreams of seeing snow one last time- can Santa make his dream come true? The storyline was totally unexpected - but loved every page. I will look out for more by this author. Many thanks to Net Galley... more for a copy of this book.
review 2: St. Nick is great adult Christmas story about a cop named Nick. The story begins with Nick in a dark place, he's suspended from duty, divorced and somewhat separated from his kids, depressed and keeps his gun on his kitchen table. His retired ex-partner is running a mall security office and gives him a call asking for help. Nick grudgingly says OK he'll help, but when he goes to the security office he finds out his buddy wants him to be the mall Santa while helping find the culprits they're after. NO way! But then he agrees he'll do it for 2 days until they can find another Santa. Sure, Nick.He has an amazing Christmas Elf who helps him become Santa. There's a cute reporter with a big heart who has a twinkle in her eye when she looks at Nick. There's also a very sick little boy who needs Nick's friendship, and a little girl who writes to Santa asking not to be forgotten like last year. But the boy wants snow for Christmas, how to do that in So. California? And no one knows anything about Laura, so how to find her so she's not forgotten again? The cast of characters are well developed and they all come together to try and make a real Christmas for these kids.Nick begins to come back to his old self while being Santa, and his heart begins to soften as he does all he can help make a real Christmas for the kids. This is a heartwarming tale of a guy who feels like he lost it all, and then begins to realize that the Christmas spirit is still alive inside, and that miracles do still happen. This is one book I will re-read every Christmas season. I must warn you, the story will suck you in and not let you leave until you read the last page. Originally written as a serial, this is now a complete book. Well written and edited this is an awesome holiday read that may well touch your heart and reawaken your Christmas spirit too. Buy yourself a little gift and I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I have. Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays to all! less
