review 1: Baricco's books are short and beautiful. For my current travels, I decided not to bring with me many books, due to the weight and the evilness of the flying companies, but this one was one of the ones that travelled with me. How lucky (for me).It tells three little stories that are/n't related. They don't follow a narrative sequence, but they do follow a theme of encounters just before dawn. Interestingly enough, it talks about physical and emotional distances between people. Interesting issues for someone who has just left.Baricco is always amazing, and in fact this book is mentioned in Mr. Gwyn, but it is not necessary to have read the former to understand this one. I certainly feel that his style has changed through his writings. Now he seems to be more compact and, per... morehaps, a bit more concrete than before. If you liked him before, I think you will still like him; if you didn't like him before, I suggest you give him another chance.I would read this book again, and I don't say that of many books.
