review 1: Not as good as the Hum and the Shiver, but still a good read. I was more invested in the story between Doyle and Berklee than anything else and I was very pleased with their ending. Rob's 'outrageous' temper only popped up a few times and felt like a complete non-sequitur, it added nothing to the story or his character. The whole head-cracking angle felt a bit forced and didn't sit very comfortably for me. I like Bronwyn and Mandalay a lot more and wished they had been more involved.
review 2: This was the sequel to The Hum and the Shiver, which I also really liked. Some of the characters from the first book appear in the sequel, but there are new characters as well. The book is primarily about an aspiring musician trying to deal with guilt over the accidenta... morel death of his girlfriend. It's full of musical lyrics (folksy), romantic and sexual entanglements, and supernatural elements. I really enjoy Bledsoe's clear, forthright writing style. less
