Empire of the Moghul
review 1: First book in a set of 4 or 5. The story of Moghul dynasty in itself is so long that you will expect sequels coming. Hard fought battles, good pace, story written from the viewpoint of the first Moghul ruler of India. Written by husband and wife under a pseudonym, I felt the book lack certain charm which will make you sit through it. I took really long time to finish coz the writing became cumbersome sometimes but in case you are looking at understanding why Babur came so far to east in India, you will be enlightened to read some of the stuff. I go for 3.5 stars for the research work done. Tremendous hard work I must say.
review 2: It is a rare occasion when I truly cannot stomach one more page of a book due to it's excessive elementary metaphors or it's use o
... moref modern English language in dialogue. Had there been any effort in effective & descriptive writing I would continue through to the end. Unfortunately, this book is completely & horrifyingly plebeian- the poor use of metaphor would make a 5th grade teacher cringe (read: "her face was as wrinkled as a dried apricot") ... & is not worth another moment of my time. Want to learn more about Moghul history? Do NOT read this one. Moving on. less

Not a literary marvel by any means but the historical aspect is fascinating to an extent.
