review 1: What a joy to read more of the delightful adventures of the residence and their lives! Mathew has an amazing turn of events and we find Bertie in challenging situations once again attempting to get out of his mother's plans for him, Angus is making new discoveries and Domenica is wondering what to do with herself. These are only some of the events that one can read about, but I am giving nothing away! You will just have to make yourself a cup of tea and curl up with the book to find what Alexander McCall Smith has in store for his characters including Bruce.
review 2: The book is delightful. I’m mainly a reader of gritty mystery or urban fantasy and this is a gentle story of a group of Edinburgh neighbors. Each is given their own story and each story dances ... morearound the other to form a tale of love, near death, nationalism, and quirky Jacobites.It’s different from what I normally read, but I find his stories charming. You’ll like this if you liked the No 1 Ladies Detective Agency for it’s characters and little surprises. less
