review 1: This is the first in a series of mysteries set in a bookshop in Brooklyn. I want to work at that bookshop and live in one of the cool brownstones on that street. I'm not going to say that this is the most baffling mystery story I've ever read, it's not the scariest -- but it's one of the coziest. For anyone in need of comfort reading, with excellent characterizations and an enchanting setting, this fits the bill. At the time of this review, I've devoured books 2 and 3 -- both interesting, with characters that grow with each installment. I'm holding off on book 4...
review 2: Darla, moving from Texas to New York, inherits a bookstore from her great aunt Dee. Trying to make a go of it, when independent bookstores are folding, Darla lands a famous author for ... morea book signing. But the author comes to a devious end. Was it an accident or murder? The black cat named Hamlet was inherited with the store is a sassy feline but he trys to throw Darla and her friends a clue or two. Characters are like able and the mystery was pretty good, too. Would read the next book. less
