review 1: This book was great, because it was really funny and I loved the character. However, I was recommended this book by a friend who told me all of it was hilarious. I found this to be untrue, as a lot of it is describing bullying at his school, and it is sad. I thought I would read it for a light, fun read, and most of it is, but some parts are really depressing. The writing style is great though, really giving the perspective of a teen accurately.
review 2: I love fixer upper kind of books and movies. This book was like that. An overweight kid meets a cute girl and does something about it when he normally would have done nothing. Yeah, it was predictable. Yeah, the vocabulary wasn't that strong. It was a simple story with a good theme and great characters. Not as... more wonderful as Fat Cat which was a fixer upper kind of book, too. I read it in one evening and enjoyed every moment of it. less
