The Unknown Assassin
review 1: This was a great continuation of Boy Nobody's story (in this volume known as Daniel). Good plot, breathless thrills. The only reason it didn't get five stars for a killer thriller (pardon the pun) is something that happened in the last 10 pages that took the reader so far beyond the suspension of disbelief as to be ridiculous. I suppose you wouldn't encounter anything more unlikely in a James Bond book, but...it made me sit back, jump out of the story and say No WAY did that happen! So...slight downgrade.
review 2: He has no parents. He has no home. He has no name. He is the perfect assassin. His job is to go in, accomplish the mission, and get out undetected, leaving no trace he was there. But his last mission made him doubt The Program, and now they are
... moredoubting him; they give him another mission so he can prove his loyalty to them and to his job. He is to take out Eugene Moore, the man who runs Camp Liberty, a group who don't believe in the government and are set on preparing for a mission of their won. Daniel, as he is known for this mission, is to take out Eugene at a recruitment event, but everything goes wrong, and Daniel ends up at Camp Liberty, where he was forbidden to go. Now he is on his own to complete the mission; it seems The Program has abandoned him. As he works to accomplish his mission and win back the trust of The Program, he finds out information that causes him to doubt his life more, but he continues to be loyal to all he has in the world. This is a fast-paced story with an intriguing plot. It reminds me a bit of Robert Ludlum's Jason Bourne series. I Am the Mission has interesting characters and mystery, making it a great story. There were twists I didn't expect, and it ended at just the right place to start the next book in the series. less
