review 1: This could really happen, a fiction, but in a way, a bit of fantasy. The way that Holly could just talk to the bird is almost unrealistic. But I guess if you studied, it could happen. When Holly Greenwood finds out that her favorite park is being ripped down to build a shopping center, Holly is furious. Her favorite park, Peterson, is going to be ruined! When Zachary, Holly, and all of her other friends gather to help, they right 'Save the Bark', not 'Save the Park', they are disappointed, and have to start over with a picnic, in which the rain ruins. And Holly is ready to give up, but her Mother says not to. Then Zachary surprises her with a party in the park, a lot of people, over 200, that they want to save Peterson Park, and Mayor Morgan changes her mind, the park is s... moreaved!
review 2: Green Princess saves the park!I like how the color green is used for more than just a favorite color but to hold an environmental meaning. That said, the story is ok. It rushes a bit, and isn't the most plausible thing in the world. Still it has some solid values, a nice little introduction to environmental activism and even a solid lesson about listening to people with differing opinions. That and the thought that kids can make a difference. This is a good series of books that my daughters enjoyed. They're something I'm happy to encourage them to read. Not on the "Must Buy" shelf, but something to enjoy from the library if you get a chance. less
