review 1: Twilight + Vampire Academy = The Drake ChroniclesI am so excited to share this book with you!! I was wandering through Books A Million the other day… something I do waaaay to often and stumbled across this book. I had just finished Vampire Academy and was looking to find something to fill the void and this was the perfect book!! If you are a fan of Vampire Academy or Twilight this is the perfect book. It really has the perfect blend of the two stories.A little bit about the book:The Drakes are rather different to your usual neighbours. They are vampires and some of the members of the family date back to the twelfth century. One of the children, Solange, is the only born female vampire known and, as such, she poses a direct threat to the vampire queen. Her best friend Luc... morey is human, and when Solange is kidnapped Lucy and Solange’s brother, Nicholas, set out to save her. Lucy soon discovers that she would like to be more than just friends with Nicholas. But how does one go about dating a vampire? Meanwhile, Solange finds an unlikely ally in Kieran, a vampire slayer on the hunt for his father’s killer.___One of the things I that Hearts at Stake and Vampire Academy have in common is the intriguing friendship between two girls, one of which is human and the other is a vampire. They come from two completely different worlds, with two completely and somethings clashing personalities yet they will do anything for each other. The two girls, Lucy and Solange made me fall in love with this story. The author used an interesting writing approach where every other chapter is told from the opposite girls point of you. I loved it!! It gave me the chance to see everything from both of their points of view. To see the strengths and weaknesses each girl faced because of their differences.There are so many stories out there where vampires are depicted as being untouchable, perfect individuals. This story showed their humanity and their flaws. There were some characters that you fell in love with and their were others that you loved to hate. Alyxandra Harvey did an amazing job of bringing her characters to life and creating her own vision of vampires and how they function in todays society.This story was filled with friendship, romance, deadly adventures, and betrayals. I was on the edge of my seat from the moment I picked up this story. Harvey is an amazing writer that loves her characters. She also left me dying for more!!
review 2: Great! It was exciting, funny and packed with romance and wonderful characters. I loved the Drake family and Lucy. Generally it showed a totally new side of the vampiric world they all live in, especially the different kind of vampires. Royalists, ancient clans, Hel-Blar, Hounds, Hosts and Vampire Hunters. Wow! I'm stunned and I love the cover.I'm looking forward to the next books, I'll totally love them. less
