review 1: An enticing book, with mystery, anticipation and a very clever twist to finish with. The Lost Library leads you on a journey through time, and combines physical journey with an exciting an intellectual one. From a quaint little university in Carleton, to the famous grounds of Oxford, and through the streets in Alexandria and Istanbul, Dean guides you down a road full of suspense and intrigue. The mind is presented with a trial of clues, in which the solution remains ever elusive until the brilliant conclusion. Dr Emily Wess, a history professor, is unknowingly swept up by the major power play at hand, where world control is the ultimate aim. However, she doesn’t understand just how dangerous this game of power truly is. It is evidently a book that has been thoroughly res... moreearched and written carefully, and so I must give it well-deserved praise. I highly recommend the novel to any interested in how history is still alive in our modern society, and to any who love a good contest between good vs evil in the pursuit of power.
review 2: A thriller in the style of Dan Brown. Fast-paced conspiracy story with lots of twists and turns that kept me going and wanting to know how it ended. The writing is variable - sometimes brilliant, sometimes predictable and cliched. Also there are some continuity angles missing, which as a writer, I found annoying. I suspect that Mr. Dean has a lot more up his sleeve given he has such a creative imagination. (Jones). less
