review 1: Elegant seems to be the right word to describe this book, it was a restrained story and the BDSM elements were very classily done. Roger is solid and unemotional, a cop who doesn’t identify himself as gay per se, he distances himself from those he thinks of as swishy or flashy. Instead he’s a contained Leatherman who keeps his private life separate from his job until someone decides to bring a dead body to his home, and unfortunately for him the clues keep pointing to his BDSM community. The story was well written, though it was obvious to me fairly early on who the culprit was. Truly what I liked about this book was that the very controlled Roger could not seem to help himself around Sean. When Roger losses his temper and snaps at Sean for things like cursing or biting... more his thumb, he knows he’s crossing a line and has no business talking to a civilian this way, but just can’t seem to help himself. Sean was perfect for him, and I liked how he was persistent, patient and down to earth. He knew what turned him on was outside of what he considered the norm and that scared him, but the trust he put in Roger made their relationship so very sweet.I also liked how the author mid book started giving us other point of views. Sometimes when it’s done unexpectedly it’s abrupt and pulls the reader out of the story, but this was done seamlessly and even added a bit of humor to the book. The only thing I really don’t think belonged was the ghost of Rogers past lover. It just didn’t seem to fit with the story.Overall, I really enjoyed this; a solid 3.5 easily rounded up to four.
review 2: Yep, I had it at 3 stars but I had to up it to four. Roger is a detective and one day comes home to find a corpse displayed out on his couch. Finding out who it is, isn't the biggest issue. Because we have a killer out there and somehow it all revolves around Roger. Roger has to rely on people whom he hopes he can trust... but Roger starts to second guess everything. Sean is the brother of the corpse Roger found on his couch. He is someone who is wiggling his way under Roger's skin and he can't shake him free. Roger is attracted to Sean despite knowing better. Sean seems to know more than he is letting on, he is a suspect to a murder(s). He seems to be everywhere Roger is now. But Roger can't help help but feel drawn to Sean. Enough to step on the grey lines between detective and suspect. Little does he know the repercussions...There are clues dropped around. Roger really can't trust anyone... and figure out who the killer is before more people die.. people he cares for.So all fingers keep pointing to Sean. Sometimes they tick towards someone else, but I kept thinking no, it doesn't add up. I was really thinking who is it really?? Even when I figure it, because I do, I still enjoyed watching everything unfold. I really like these types of stories. We have our relationship but also a mystery to solve along the way. It is like a two in one for me. :-) less

Did not finish. Writing seemed choppy. Has elements of bdsm but not enough to keep me interested.
