review 1: I really enjoyed this final book in the 'Texas Dreams' series. I really liked the character of Harriet, and felt for her having to figure out how to raise her younger siblings at such a young age. Lawrence was a character in the previous book in the series ('Scattered Petals'), but, to be honest, I really didn't like him at all in that book. Thankfully, he redeemed himself quite well in this novel. I really appreciated how both Harriet and Lawrence (and other more minor characters) did not stay stagnant, but grew throughout the book: especially in their understanding and ability to trust God with their fears. Both Sarah and Priscilla (the heroines in the first two books) were minor characters in this book, but it turns out that Isabelle, who had been a friend to both Sarah ... moreand Priscilla in their hours of need once again takes on the role of friend and confidant to Harriet. I felt that Isabelle's character in the first two novels was a little 'flat' . . . but in this book, her character shines through beautifully!I really enjoyed this series, and have put Amanda Cabot on my list of 'authors I must read'! :)
review 2: A young woman, school-teacher, is left with five younger siblings on her hands and moves them all to a new town for a better life. A handsome sheriff/mayor of their new town is thrown into her path more and more often, and they become friends. Then more than friends. Although, he's not the only one vying for her attention. To be honest, I’m not sure why I finished this book. I knew from the first couple of chapters it would annoy me, and it didn’t fail. It’s no fault of the author, it’s just not the kind of writing I favor. I’m sure many other people would love this story as there is a lot to admire about it. less

I didn't like this one as much as the others in the series, but it was still a good read.
